Every Notra journal is individually handcrafted in our Los Angeles studio, with care and attention to the details that make each piece special.

Absolutely. Natural variations in grain, texture, color, and markings are part of the character of genuine leather. These details make each journal unique, rather than perfectly uniform.

These natural characteristics are not, by themselves, considered defects.

Our journals are sold as leather covers only. Notebook inserts are not included.

Each cover is designed to accommodate traveler's notebook-style inserts in the corresponding size.

We use vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany, Italy, a region with a long tradition of leather craftsmanship. We love this leather for its quality, natural character, and the way it ages beautifully. It gradually softens with use and develops a lovely patina, making each journal more unique over time.

Yes! Over time, vegetable-tanned leather develops a patina, which is the natural change in color and sheen that comes with use.

Your journal may gradually deepen in color and become softer, developing its own character as you use it.

You can make your journal a little more personal with custom embossing. We can stamp up to 15 characters, including letters, numbers, and a selection of decorative symbols.

Available symbols include hearts, stars, smiley faces, four-leaf clovers, sparkles, and suns. Please limit hearts and stars to two of each.

Simply enter your embossing details when customizing your journal. For special requests, email us at hello@notrajournals.com.

If you have a particular placement in mind for your embossing or charms, please email us at hello@notrajournals.com within 24 hours of purchase.

We'll be happy to review your request. Custom placements are subject to approval and are confirmed only once you've received written confirmation from our studio.

Every journal is handcrafted to order. Please allow up to 14 business days for production and processing before shipment.

Once your order is on its way, we'll send you a shipping confirmation with tracking details.

If you need to make a change or cancel your order, please email us at hello@notrajournals.com within 24 hours of purchase.

Changes are subject to approval and written confirmation. After 24 hours, orders cannot be modified or cancelled under our standard policy, except where mandatory consumer rights apply.

Yes! We offer $18.99 flat-rate shipping to select international destinations, with estimated transit times of 1–3 weeks after dispatch.

Any applicable customs duties, VAT, import taxes, and clearance fees are the recipient's responsibility unless included at checkout, subject to applicable requirements.

Please keep in mind that customs processing and import clearance may extend delivery times.

We take great care in preparing every order. If your piece arrives damaged, defective, or different from what you ordered, please reach out. We'll be happy to look into it and help make things right.

A little care goes a long way. Gently wipe your journal with a clean, soft cloth to remove everyday dust.

If needed, you may apply a small amount of suitable leather balm, testing it on an inconspicuous area first. Avoid harsh cleaners, alcohol, direct heat, and prolonged exposure to water.

If your journal gets wet, gently blot away excess moisture and allow it to air dry naturally.

Brass grommets may naturally develop a patina over time. To maintain their appearance, gently buff them with a clean, dry, soft cloth.

Avoid abrasive products on coated or colored finishes. If using a brass cleaner on an appropriate uncoated finish, take care to keep it away from the leather.
